Gerry Carroll

Gerry is a litigation specialist and has handled some of the largest and most complex cases to come before the Irish courts. He also has extensive experience of international litigation practice involving European and US courts. Although acting in commercial disputes for clients across a broad range of activity, Gerry has considerable experience of insurance, product liability, intellectual property, professional disciplinary inquiries and aviation matters. He advises the firm’s automotive clients and is experienced in all aspects of the EU Block Exemption Regulations which affect that sector.

In the area of intellectual property he has acted in an advisory capacity and in the conduct of litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. Gerry has been involved in infringement and revocation patent actions concerning pharmaceutical and veterinary drugs, proceedings alleging infringement of a patent for additives to mud used for drilling for oil and gas and coronary heart stents.

Gerry qualified as a solicitor in 1984 having obtained a Bachelor of Civil Law degree at University College Dublin. He became partner in 1989 and was head of the firm’s litigation department from 1995 to 2002. Gerry was Managing Partner of the firm from 2003 to 2009.

Gerry is a member of the IBA, DRI Europe, the Lawyers’ Pilots’ Bar Association and AOPA. He is also a qualified pilot with a particular interest in aviation law.
