Aoife Murphy

Aoife is an experienced commercial litigator with particular emphasis on intellectual property.

Aoife advises on all aspects of intellectual property issues, patents, trade marks, copyright and design related intellectual property matters.  She has been involved in infringement and revocation patent actions concerning pharmaceuticals, coronary heart stents, electronic points of sale systems and vending machine apparatuses etc.

On the brand side Aoife has advised in the protection of domain names and internet related rights, the protection of confidential information and issues arising out of e-commerce generally.  She has been involved in trade mark and passing off litigation and litigation involving copyright enforcement and infringement.   She has also advised many clients in relation to privacy law inIrelandand data protection issues and has acknowledged experience of these areas of law.

She works closely in this area with the in-house advisers of multi-national companies, intellectual property practitioners in other jurisdictions and with patent and trade mark agents.  Aoife is a member of AIPPI and the Copyright Association of Ireland.  She has given presentations in her area of expertise to clients and trade mark associations.  She is co-author of “Technology & IP Law” (2008: Tottell Publishing/Law Society of Ireland).

Aoife qualified as a solicitor in 1998 having obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree (B.Comm) and a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from University College Galway. She has been with the firm since 1995 and became a partner in 2005.
